Temporary stick-on contact pickups are a great way to quickly and easily add a pickup to an acoustic instrument like cigar box guitars. Using it is simple – just peel off the adhesive backing on the pickup disk, place it on the sound board of your instrument, plug in an amp cord to the other end and start rocking out.

The best place to put one is usually somewhere an inch or two from the bass strings side of the bridge, but some experimentation is recommended. You can hold the pickup in different positions with your hand before removing the adhesive backing to see how it sounds before permanently attaching it.

In the video below, Shane Speal shows you the different ways he makes use of these pickups with his guitars, and walks you through how to get it set up on your guitar.
