Andy Warhol originally did the album cover for the Rolling Stones’ album, Some Girls. Now Cigar Box Nation member, Kevin Perlic has turned the pop art into a wild instrument featuring a cake pan and cigar box guitar neck/bridge (is that a C. B. Gitty Pure & Simple kit?).

Darren Brown’s Resonator Cigar Box Guitar
Darren Brown of DB Customs Cigar Box Guitars has recently completed this stunning reso. Not only does the gloss black body make the chrome parts pop, but the entire thing has such a perfect layout. Brown even used a black P90 pickup and removed the two unused pole pieces. Brilliant.

Guitar Made from Salvaged Desk & Silver Bowl by Bill Turner
“The Erin” has a resonator created using a silver serving bowl, a brass candle plate with an inlaid mother of pearl rim and various pieces of lighting and drawer hardware. The face and back panels are wood panels salvaged from an old desk. Not a cigar box guitar, but truly magic nonetheless.

Cigar Box Guitar Features a Resonator made from a Bean Can!
We don’t know what’s cooler…the sink drain sound holes or the bean can resonator. This La Gloria cigar box guitar was built by Cigar Box Nation member, Maddog and features a very clean-cut lid for the resonator. Other details include a Flatpup pickup, brass corners and an oak neck. Sweet!
Miku’s Stereo Bass/Baritone Hybrid is Magnificent
Cigar Box Nation member, Miku built this beaturiful bass/baritone guitar hybrid. It features two pickups wired to separate jacks (for individual amps or stereo sound) plus a resonator made of tea heater. The tailpiece is sewing machine element.

4-String Plywood Guitar Made for a Granddaughter
Cigar Box Nation member, “BP-Rabid Salad” offered to make a canjo for his granddaughter. She told him she’d rather have a “rock n roll guitar,” so he proceeded to make her this wild 4-stringer. He says, “Built this with some 3/4 – 8 ply plywood. Covered the top and backside with a veneer. It has a rod piezo sandwiched under the veneer and the strings grounded thru the bridge. Just have to put a pick guard on it to complete it. So she can plug it in and make a lot of noise… at her house.”
